Friday Edition: Yummy Finds

While I was driving to the Chinese restaurant to pick up dinner last night I realized two things: (1) it was THURSDAY night, not Wednesday; and (2) with the sun setting before 8pm, it is definitely the end of summer.

I was really thrilled about the first realization!  All day long I had thought it was Wednesday so I thought I had two more work days to go.  But I was wrong. . . only one day to go!

The second realization made me sad.  I really feel like I haven't enjoyed the summer at all.  I've only been to the beach once.  And I have only been swimming twice.  Do you feel like you have enjoyed the summer?

I've even noticed that bloggers have started to post less about summer food! I still need summer recipes because I have an entire garden that is still producing.  But, let's be real, who knows how long that will last since it was 50 degrees this morning at our house!

I found two yummy looking recipes this week; one highlights the best of summer food, the other is cozy comfort food that you can enjoy on a crisp fall night!  Please be sure to visit these ladies and leave some comments.  Enjoy your weekend!

YUMMY FIND NO. 1: Tomato, Basil and Mozzarella Tart by Frugal in WV

Yum!  My all time favorite summer combination: tomato, mozz and basil.  Frugal decided to take that combo to a new level and put that on phyllo dough and bake it up.  It looks delish!  Frugal says that this is her husband's favorite way to use tomatoes, which is apparently a big deal since he doesn't even really like tomatoes!  Check out Frugal's fun recipes, recipe reviews and affordable tips here.

YUMMY FIND NO. 2: Braised Chicken and Mushrooms in Sherry Demiglaze by bouffe e bambini

Okay, so I can get over the loss of summer if someone would make me this meal!  Doesn't this look great?  As soon as I saw it I thought of fall and I can't wait until it cools down enough so I can cook this meal.  But I pretty much want to make everything I see on Hanna's blog bouffe e bambini.  Rough translation of the blogs's name: food and babies.  Both of which bring Hanna joy, so she decided to write about them.  I hope you stop by and say hi to Hanna too!

p.s. I want to give a big THANK YOU to my bloggy friend Carol at La Familia Aissa who helped me with some of the re-design of my site.  Please go say hi to Carol and see all of her beautiful pictures and great writing!
