Friday Edition: Yummy Finds

So it's the first weekend in awhile where there isn't going to be a big nationally televised football game.  Woohoo!  What are you going to do?  The Husband and I are escaping for some much needed time away from jobs, stress, etc.  I can't wait!

But in addition to that I am also going to be planning our Super Bowl party.  We have never hosted one, so I am excited to find recipes to make.  I know many on-line foodie sites have "game plans" and menus, and a lot of them involve wings and chips and dip, but I wanted to highlight a few of the non-traditional menu ideas that I found.

YUMMY FIND NO. 1: Mac and Cheese with Buffalo Chicken by Bon Appetit

Oh how I love mac and cheese.  And buffalo chicken.  The combination of the two is just unreal!  The recipe looks sinful.  But maybe if I make this without doubling the recipe, I would just be able to have 1 small bite, which would satisfy my craving, but not make me feel guilty!

YUMMY FIND NO. 2: Double-Cheese and Prosciutto Calzone by Bon Appetit

More cheese!!  As the Toddler says: yummy-yum!  I love how the recipe calls for both mozz and fresh goat cheese, which, I think, would give the calzone a fresh tangy flavor.  And I adore that the recipe uses refrigerated pizza crust.

What will you be making for Super Bowl?  Do you usually host a party?  Let me know if you have any tips.

p.s.  Remember the recipe I shared in my guest post at Big D and Me?  Well Pepperidge Farm featured it on their Puff Pastry Facebook page!  Check it out here (it published on Monday).

  4. Would you believe I've never made a calzone? I have made a pizza casserole with turkey pepperoni that we loved, but never a calzone.
