Friday Edition: Yummy Finds

Hi there!  Happy Friday to you.  What do you have going on this weekend?  We are supposed to have our block party.  It was scheduled for last Sunday, but we rescheduled because it was supposed to rain all day Sunday.

It didn't rain.

I was so bummed that it was canceled.  And even more bummed that it didn't rain.  So I am hoping for the best this weekend - no rain!!!  But even if it doesn't rain, it is supposed to be chilly (fall is finally here) so that means I will be hunting down and making more hearty meals and comfort food.  Here are a couple that I want to try!

YUMMY FIND No. 1: Tomatillo Tomato Soup from the Bare Midriff

This soup looks great and I bet it would taste awesome with a beer and some tortilla chips.  Elizabeth over at the Bare Midriff was inspired by tortilla soup when coming up with this recipe.  And I love how she describes what a tomatillo is - so funny!  Elizabeth blogs about lots of yummy things and has some great looking recipes on her blog.  Stop by to check them out and say hi!

YUMMY FIND No. 2: Chicken Potpies with Ham by Martha Stewart

Oh Martha!  You always get me with the images and descriptions of comfort food.  Look at that crust on the potpie?  Doesn't it make you want to eat the whole thing (or maybe two)?  You can find the recipe here and links to other comfort foods here.

P.S. Calling all Halloween bakers!  I want to feature your batty brownies, your chocolate chip counts, etc.  Please send me an email, or leave a comment with your creation so I can feature you!!

  3. Now a chicken pot pie with ham sounds like my kind of thing. I was just thinking that my last pot pie attempt needed a bit more flavor.
